Wise Computer Consulting

The love of gadgets and technology goes back at least three generations. Grandfather Chalmers Wise was an X-ray tech in WWII and started Cine-Cath Imaging Inc. in the 1970s.

In the Beginning

A life of traveling was fine for a while, but as his family grew, it made sense to stay closer to home. So, Dee went to work as a father/son team at his father’s company, PC Consultants of the Carolinas. His father, who was a service tech for IBM before joining Cine-Cath, had built up a base of clients in the Gastonia, N.C., area. Together they served as the out-sourced IT help for many small businesses helping with all things electronic, such as servers, networking, email changes, audio/visual equipment and phone systems.

The History of Wise Computer

“I learned the business from my Uncle, whose background was writing programming for Microsoft Software,” said Dee Wise, Owner of Wise Computer Consulting. “With hands-on mentoring, I was in charge of servicing the imaging equipment and I learned to set up computer systems on the Microsoft Platform that would capture information about pressures and other diagnostics in the heart. Doctors in major hospitals all over the Southeast used our system to diagnose and treat patients based on the data collected. It was during these trips that I understood the importance of professionalism and detailed reporting.”

Growing Wise Computer

Eventually, Dee branched out on his own in 2001 and Wise Computer Consulting has proudly served a variety of small businesses during the last decade. We are the out-sourced IT department for small to mid-sized businesses. With a few special clients in North Carolina and Tennessee, the bulk of the customer base is centered around the Charlotte Metro area. With the growth of the business, Wise Computer Consulting has evolved from a one-man consultant into a team as large as 4 full-time techs and 3 part-time administrative support team.

For years, Wise Computer Consulting was the model example of remote employees and mobile offices.Although the team now uses an office building in Lake Wylie as headquarters, the bulk of the work is done on-site at customer locations. Each tech has been fully trained in customer service, reporting and team communication. Some techs employed by WCC have specialty training areas, but overall the techs are rotated so that each member of the team is in the loop regarding each customer’s current needs.
